I moved to Chicago in August of 2011, jobless. It worked out though. That’s another story for another day. About a month or so later after being offered a position, I met a co-worker, turned friend. She was about 8 years older than me. It’s usually that way when I click with people who I didn’t meet in college (or beforehand).
So, I went to the Women’s March in NYC this past weekend and I’m so glad I did. This was a first for me, and it definitely won’t be my last (march of any kind). I was very conflicted by different posts that I saw leading up to the event. Specifically those where African-American women said they were going to sit this one out. I was crushed. Why? Some of the points were valid and I definitely understood. The biggest one? 53% of Caucasian women voted for him. Agh…
So, remember that hilarious story on Buzzfeed where the girl said she forgot her charger so that she could ask her Uber driver out? If you don’t, you can read it here.
Well, shoutout to her because I was feeling a little inspired and did the same thing. 😏 I will say one thing about New York, I’m more “bold” here. For lack of better words.
Happy New Year beautiful people!
So, I made this blog to do a lot of things:
- Have an outlet
- Share my New York life
- Make myself (and someone who may be reading) “honest” in chasing their dreams/meeting their goals.
I’m sure there are other reasons, but those are the most important.
